What Is RSS And How To Use It
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, which means that you can read the latest information from this site and other sites, to a single location without having to visit multiple sites. Think of a RSS feed from a website as a special pipeline that channels information to a single place where you can read the updated information.
The single point, I mentioned above is call a news reader software. It is simply a piece of software, that collects RSS feeds from websites that interest you so that you can quickly get the information you want. You “subscribe” to the RSS feed of that website and I’ll show you how to do that. It is quite easy actually.
There are 2 types of news reader, online resides on your computer and others like Bloglines are web based feed reader. On my computer, I use Thunderbird for my emails. Thunderbird which is free also allows you to subscribe to feeds. Now I use Bloglines as it allows me to read my favorite website feeds anywhere without having to carry my laptop with me. There are many other news reader available. Choose the one you like the most.
By the way, some people use the term news reader and others use the term feed reader. They mean the same thing.
