Thinking For A Change

I read John Maxwell’s “Thinking For A Change” and found it refreshing. Having read many how-to books, I found this book somewhat different from others that say “think my way. Your way is wrong”. Rather it encourages you to decide for yourself.

Although this book is not related to money or finance, in today’s competitive world, if you want to increase your income, it requires a change in your thinking. And this book offers that.

It list 11 different types of thinking for example strategic thinking, focused thinking, the joy of creative thinking, reflective thinking, unselfish thinking, bottom line thinking and others. John offers concrete examples of the styles in action and more importantly, he shares many thoughts about the process and discipline of thinking.

There are great examples of thinking styles, stories and exercises to help you develop and change your thinking. The lessons presented in the book can be used in many situations, not just to make money, which is the objective of many organizations today.

What if making money is not your objective? John Maxwell offers an example how Frances Hesselbein, the legendary former head of the Girl Scouts, transformed the organization to make it relevant at the time the Girls Scouts lost is direction and focus.

Besides all various stories he glean from others, he also shares his experience, the good and the bad, so that you get a balanced picture.
