Starting A Business

One way to have more money is to start a business. It isn’t rocket science but here are some steps to get started.

First step is to decide what you want to do. Brainstorm ideas on paper and put down what you would like to do. Observe how other business is run to give you ideas of potential business niches, and also what you are getting into. Shortlist potential business ideas. You are getting into business for the long run, so choose carefully.

Talk to your spouse, friends and other people to find out what they think. Ask, “Would you buy (or use) this? How much would you pay?

Understand that those closest to you may not encourage you to become an entrepreneur. Remember that the advice they give is from their own perspective, i.e. their mental box, but write down the feedback they give. Ask those who are or have been in business before too. They have a wealth of experience to share.

One of the most common warnings you’ll hear is about risk. Sure, starting any business is risky. Otherwise everyone will be in business. If you carefully consider what you’re doing, get help when you need it and never stop asking questions, you can mitigate your risk.

Useful question to help you evaluate the risk.

    What am I really risking?
What will you lose if things don’t work out?
Would I be risking my home, family, and health?
What is the potential income, monetary loss if it doesn’t work out?

Also rate yourself with the following question: -

How is your experience and background in relation to the business?
Does the business require long hours?
    Is the business location-sensitive?
Does the business fit your personal goals and objectives?
Is good growth projected for the overall industry of the business?

Remember that your original objective is to have more money and perhaps a better lifestyle. Do your research thoroughly. Study why a business succeeds and why a business fails. Once you have evaluated your options, you are much closer to succeeding.
