Increasing Your Productivity
Over the past few weeks, I’ve mentioned several ideas to generate side income. There is also a link to a post from BusinessCreditCars with listed 77 side income ideas.
Today, I want to highlight an often missed area to increasing your income, which is through increased productivity. Increasing your productivity will definitely increase your income over the long run. Think about it.
If in your workplace, by being able to complete a task much faster allows you time to take on other projects that others could not do because they can’t finish what’s on their plate. If at home, you manage to complete certain chores quickly, then you can have more time to focus on your side income ideas. I can think of 3 ways to increase your productivity.
Learn to read faster. Today, in many jobs, we are inundated with emails, reports we need to read through and and comments, the news, investment reports, blog post like this. You know what I mean. If you can improve your reading speed by just a 20%, you are ahead of the game.
One way is to limit the type of material you read. But then, even if you have cut off frivolous stuff, there is still a ton of important stuff. I like to read a lot. It is a way of improving my ideas and skills in various subjects. So learning to read faster is definitely an investment that pays of year after year. There are courses you can take, but as a beginning you consider this book
Typing Faster. Just like the above, many of us need to reply emails, generate reports on a daily basis. Improving your typing speed will increase your productivity here too. Some of you who reads this blog probably have a blog yourself or you might be considering starting a blog to earn some income. Being able to type fast is a skill that positively have an impact on your income.

Being focus. I’m guilty as charged over this one. The thing for me is that I like many things. Especially so call free stuff. In my last post I wrote about using PuppyLinux to run on slower computers. My laptop is running fine and quite up to date. There was no need for me to tinker with PuppyLinux. But I spent quite a bit of time looking up how to do things with it. Ok, I manage to get a blog post out of it but who knows, in the future it might come in handy.
But! I was totally unproductive during the time I spend tinkering. What I suggest is to list down all the things you are doing in a day. Do it for several days and stop doing stuff that is not productive.
I know it might be difficult especially things that catch your eye. What I suggest is create a “Maybe” list or “Someday” list of things that you want to do. Write down things you liked to do but it is neither urgent nor productive, so that once you have generated the income you wanted and is happy with what you are doing, only then, you pull out this Someday list.
