While writing about the Top 10 riches men and women in the world, I reflected back in the past when people asked me for donations or money. On a few occasions, it was a question of helping or not. On one hand, my thoughts were “is this person genuine?” On the other hand, “Is this guy/gal taking me for a ride?” Having been duped before, who hasn’t, I tend to be more careful when approached.
There were also occasion, when I felt that giving a handout would do more harm in the long run. Why? Besides people falling into hard times, well there are some that never learned proper money management. Giving a handout actually reinforces their habits and action. It is never an easy decision.
So though I think the rich can use their money to help the poor, how the help is being rendered is also an important factor. Be wise when giving a hand.
