Are you feeling burnout. Tired and not motivated. Lethargic. Feel like pushing yourself but don’t have the energy to do it. You could be pushing too hard. Some times, it is not because you are not motivated or lazy, more likely, you have forgone enough rest.
That’s where I’ve been lately. No, I’m not missing in action, only busy on a work project that is physically demanding. Plus the fact that I have to study for an exam, that puts mental strain on me, plus thinking of useful articles to post here. Which brings me to the point of this post. I haven’t been getting enough rest. That’s not good. I think today, many people are doing the same thing. Burning the candles from both ends.
The danger is however, if your body gets used to not getting enough rest, it starts to react in funny ways. You may think your body can handle it fine and get by with just 4 to 5 hours sleep. Over the long run, productivity actually goes down without you knowing it. If you take notice, creativity also goes. Lack of sleep also can cause illness. I heard several centuries ago, the Frence people did away with resting on Sunday saying it was a waste of time. So the farm animals and people work non stop. Eventually, the animals started to die of at an alarming rate that the rest day was incorporated back in. I don’t have the actual facts, but even today, major corporations forfeit leave that is not taken. I remember, several years ago, companies compensate the employees in cash if they don’t finish of leave. No longer. Corporations want their staff rested and fresh. Not overworked glazed employees.
Also, if life is just about work, then it won’t be an abundant life isn’t it. It wouldn’t be worth living. After this period is over in about 10 days, I’m taking a break. What about you?
