A good friend asked me how to earn extra money recently. As I recalled ideas that helped me, the one key area often overlooked by someone wanting to earn extra money, is their thoughts. The daily thoughts, that lurks just beneath conscious thinking.
I share with you here, what we discussed.
Firstly, do you believe you deserve to earn extra money? If you unconsciously belief that you don’t deserve to earn more money, then most of your efforts or plans would not matter much.
Look at the field of top level professional sports. There isn’t much that separates those that regularly wins and those that regularly comes second or third. What separates them is their thinking.
How do you know if you have beliefs that block you from earning extra money? Here are some questions you can ask yourself. See if you have any here.
- I don’t think I’m worth more than what I’m earning
- Money is not the key to happiness
- I don’t need extra money now
- I’m afraid to ask for more money
- I don’t know how to earn extra money
- If I have more time, then I can earn extra money
- I don’t believe people will pay for what I ask
- Making more money requires too much effort
- I do want to be a workaholic
- I’m too busy to think of ways to earn extra money
Even in the bible Jesus asked this “If you can?’ said Jesus. “Everything is possible for him who believes.†Mark 9:23 NIV
Jack Welch mention this “99.9 % of all employees are in the pile because they don’t think!
By now, I think you are convinced you must change the way you think. So how do you change your thinking? If you have figured out what is your favorite belief that blocks you from earning extra money, then I suggest you question that belief. Try to think of what you can believe instead or what rich people belief.
For example if you belief that earning extra money requires too much effort, ask yourself “Is this true?†Look around. I’m sure you know some wealthy people who are enjoying themselves at the golf club while you are at work. As you question your beliefs, you will start to change what you initially belief.
I know I did. I hope this will get you on the path to earn extra money, but don’t just stop at earning extra money. Many people started with a small goal and then spring board their idea to earn extra money to start new companies and even industries.
