Cookies – Final Post

I wrote on the last post, the challenges of selling cookies. I’ll wrap up this on a short post here. I think any physical products will go through more than what we went through. Like I mentioned earlier, there is nothing like hands on experience that can teach you and I think besides making some cash, the actual experience was invaluable.

Ok, creating a physical product will always present challenges of purchasing raw materials, storage, production and delivery. However a good physical product that can be held, tasted, heard or seen, will help in making additional sales. One of the advantages of a physical business is that you need no worry about people stealing your stuff.

An electronic product or an information product, on the other hand like software, ebooks, CDs can be produced or replicated fast and rather cheaply without any need for much storage, or delivery. As intellectual property can be sold much more than on the media it is stored on, several industries are based upon these.

Look at software companies, record labels, the movie industries. Essentially they own the rights to intellectual or creative outputs. It is precisely because the media on which these are stored in is relatively cheap, that these are pirated! Even though the latter info type products are popularly touted, your stuff can be stolen or pirated easily. Unless you have deep pockets, an early start up might not have the money to sue or go after thieves.

Enough said about cookies. Need to look at stuff that generates more cash.
