A Tale Of Two Doctors
Today, I had the opportunity to meet 2 prospective clients at their office. One a doctor who operates a clinic and another, a dentist. Both operate at a run down part of town. Other than the fact that they are both in the medical profession and operate at the same area, there ends the similarity.
Why? At the dentist’s clinic, this dentist obviously know about maintaining first impression. Even though the surrounding shops are not well maintained, he know how to make a good impression. His clinic is immaculate to say the least. Around the square, his shop is the one with the best facade. Inside the clinic, the deco is tastefully done, clean with an air of invitation to walk in. Customers would love to just visit this place, I told myself. And although I did not manage to get any business from this dentist, I’d say, the way his practice is set up, people would have expected to pay more. Willingly I might add.

The other clinic, I got a totally different feeling. Not well maintained, run down. When I met briefly with the doctor there, her kid was sleeping at the corner. Now, I knew that I dropped in without an appointment, but the nurse there told me to wait for a few moments. Enough time for the doctor to do what she needs to do to clean up her act, so to say. But she didn’t. For this doctor, I just made have half an attempt to promote my services and walked out. Why? I knew, I didn’t want to work with her. I felt this doctor did not take pride in her work or her practice.
Have the first impression counts a lot. I told myself, that if I’m sick, this would be the last doctor I go to. I’ve been to slightly larger medical establishment besides the one today. There was this one several years ago that I visited. The toilets were not well maintained. I’m mean, that they were visible running pipes in the toilets. And I thought to myself, if that is how they maintain toilets, what sort of medical standards do they apply here.
So, take a look at yourself from time to time. Is your first impression helping you make money or are you losing money without realizing it. Take a close look. At the stationary you use. The files you carry when you meet with clients or bosses. You could be throwing money away
